It was a steady night. The crowds weren't coming in thick or fast, but the place wasn't dead either. Most of the tables seemed to be taken by students, clearly celebrating exam results, or something. Elektra wasn't entirely sure. She was just serving them drinks to the point where they got too drunk and she could kick them out and pocket their money. She might have been a lovely person, but she was a rather shrewd businesswoman. She was going to make this place a success if it killed her. She didn't hold much hope of ever getting back to wherever it was she came from either so she may as well have made a name for herself here.
She moved along the bar, wiping it down thoroughly. Well, she was until a shadow fell across her. She didn't look up though, she just kept wiping, her eyes fixed to the bar.
"Evening. What can I get cha?" she asked in her usual, chirpy tone.

Vergil was enjoying a nice night out now that he had a home to go back too. Weeks before, he had been living on the streets with noting to his name but a tattered shirt. He was lucky enough to run into his new buddy Preston Creed. The man was kind enough to take him off the streets and put a roof over his head. Finally, he had some money in his pockets. And boy was he eager to spend it! Vergil mulled over what to do with this green paper that sat in his jeans pocket. Well, He had plenty of new cloths and food thanks to his friend Preston. So shopping was out of the question. What else could he do in the city? There had to be something.
Before long Vergil crept up to the Wondering Mule. It was a small pub he had passed many times while living on the streets. Ah yes, he could recall them throw out the tastiest treats. Maybe this time he could get something fresh, straight from the place itself rather than digging it out of the garbage. A wide toothy grin tugged at Vergil’s lips as he approached the small bar. Apart of him seemed a bit reluctant to venture through those doors though. He’d never been inside a place like this before, though he has heard rumors about what went on behind these closed doors.
Gathering all his courage, the male swallowed hard before placing one hand onto the door and pushing it open. He then ventured inside. The atmosphere inside this place was rather comforting. This stunning realization surprised the young shifter. Whenever he thought of bars he imagined brawny guys in leather jackets duking it out on top of tables, but this wasn’t the case. No, what he saw inside the pub were tables filled with young adults, all of which looked approachable. This small bar wasn’t as scary as he thought it would be. Well I’ll be damned! Vergil thought as he made his way up to the bar. A fine young woman was there, wiping down the long bar. She seemed so into her work that she didn’t even bother looking up at him. As rude as it might seem, Vergil didn’t take it to heart. Her lovely sent began to linger in the air around her causing him to drop his gaze anyway. Apart of him just wanted to turn around and walk away. He was nervous. She smelled human, and looked human. Suppose she was a human? Then again he could be wrong, there were plenty of supernatural like him who could mask their essence so to speak.
Vergil was suddenly forced from his thoughts as the woman spoke. The timid shifter immediately choked up. Well, this was embarrassing. Vergil never had alcohol before, well maybe one time when someone threw out an empty bottle of jack that had only a sip or two left at the bottom; but that was it. Ah well, he could always ask her what she had. A crocked smile creased his dark face. He then shook off his fear and chuckled. “What all do you have?” He asked, plopping his bum down onto a bar stool. He finally mustered enough courage to look directly at the woman. “My name is Vergil Valentine; may I ask what your name is?”

Elektra turned away from the customer momentarily and draped the cloth over the tap of the small sink behind the bar, before turning back to the new customer and beaming at him. "We have all sorts of things, sweetie. Beer, whiskey, cola, water, whatever you want," she said, holding onto the side of the bar and giving him her undivided attention. She beamed at him again as he introduced himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Vergil. My name's Elektra Cambell and I run this place."
As she said the last part, she gestured around her, clearly proud of the place.
One thing that struck Elektra was his stance. He looked like he was ready to take off any moment and she also noticed how naive he was. It was really cute.
Her eyes wandered down his arms as she took in his tattoos. They were fascinating to her and she had to fight with herself not to grab hold of his arm and start tracing them with the tip of her finger.
She refrained.
"So, my darling, what can I get you?" she asked again.

Vergil’s grin only seemed to grow as the lone woman put the towel away before turning to him. So now she wanted to give him her undivided attention? Vergil’s deep brown eyes glanced down at the bar. Suppose someone spilt something foul on the bar and she just wanted to clean it up? Oh well, Vergil shrugged it off. The male then turned his attention back to the woman who began to name off a couple of drinks they had on the menu.
So they served other drinks? And here Vergil thought this place only served alcohol. This Showed how much he understood the actual establishment, which was little to nothing. It was a good thing he asked though. Apart of him wanted to get some whiskey but he would be too scared of wasting it. If there was one thing he learned on the streets it was that wasting was a big no, no! Besides the money he was going to spend wasn’t his, it was Preston’s. He was lucky Preston even gave him any after what he did to the poor man’s chair. Vergil nearly chewed it to bits. After mulling over what he wanted Vergil looked the woman in the eye. She then replied to his previous comment. It turns out her name was Elektra. Vergil cracked a smile it was a very interesting name. “Elektra, huh? Very exotic.” He replied with a playful chuckle. Well it was true. He’d never heard a name like that before. Soon after the man noticed Elektra’s eyes wondering over to his tattoos that laced his arms. As she did this Vergil began to grow nervous again. To combat this he straightened his posture and attempted to act a bit more mature. “It’s a pleasure to meet you too-“ He suddenly stopped as he realized he was dealing with the owner of the store. The timid shifter felt a bit intimidated by this sudden news. Who was he to storm into her establishment and drink all her alcohol. In an attempt to ignore his doubts Vergil ordered the first thing that came to mind, which was water. “I’ll take water, please.”

She smiled at his comment of her name being exotic. She didn't really think it was, but she'd take the compliment anyway. Arguing with the patrons wasn't really a good idea. It put them off and sometimes they never came back and even she knew that being nice and gracious to people because it would mean that they'd come back. She noticed his nervousness when he found out she was the boss of the place.
"Hey, you don't need to be worried. I'm not gonna bite. I'd like to think I'm a nice person. If you want, you can stay after closing," she offered with a smile as she turned to pour him a glass of water. She placed it in front of him and looked into his dark brown eyes again. "I could use a big, strong guy like you to help me tidy up."
She looked up at the clock.
"If you don't like loud noises, cover your ears," she said to Vergil with a smile, reaching above her head and taking hold of a bell. She winked playfully at Vergil and rang the bell loudly. "Alright ladies and gentlemen! Time to pack up and leave! We're closing!"
She giggled softly to herself as everyone grumbled a little and she watched as they all finished up their drinks.
"By the way, Vergil. Your tattoos are amazing... They look so cool," she said, grinning at him.

So far so good, right? Vergil couldn’t help but to be a bit nervous in this new situation. This was his first time in a pub after all. He’d lived on the streets so long that he wasn’t really sure how to act in a normal setting. This grown adult seemed a bit childish as he sat there on the bar stool. He kept his head down and his eyes lowered. The last thing he wanted to do was make eye contact with someone. Vergil was beginning to regret ever coming to this place. Elektra’s lovely, silk-like voice streamed into the shifter’s ears. Her kind words seemed to carry the male out of the depths of his own despair. Vergil quickly looked up, and made eye contact as she spoke. Judging by her tone, the female was in a good mood. Not only that but she was generous enough to try to cheer Vergil up. The shifter offered Elektra a smile. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all? At least this woman was nice. “Well that’s a relief.” Vergil teased at her biting comment. He even went to the lengths as to exaggerate a sigh.
Elektra was so kind that she even offered him to stay after closing. This was nice and all but why would she want to do that? Vergil cocked his head to the side like a curious young pup. Maybe this girl was a bit lonely? No, that couldn’t be it. There were plenty of other people she could ask to stay after hours with her. What made him so special? As he thought about this Elektra poured him a glass of water and sat it in front of him. “Thank you.” With a hardy smile Vergil’s rough hands picked up the drink and brought it to his lips. A pleased smile over took the tall man’s face. The icy cool liquid felt good sliding down his throat. It was rare to find water this cool out on the streets.
The purifying water seemed to wash the nervous shifter’s worries away. Vergil continued to chug the drink down when Elektra spoke again. Her word nearly caused the male to choke on his water. Wait what!? The female’s words echoed within that head of his. She wanted a big strong guy to help her tidy up? Deep brown eyes peered up at Elektra, the look of confusion was written on Vergil’s face. This woman couldn’t be serious. Could she really believe he was a strong man? Most people though he was nothing more than a scrawny little runt, but yet this woman thought he was a strong man? Her words fed the shifter’s ego. A light blush then took over Vergil’s cheeks. He sighed before sitting the glass back onto the bar and wiped his mouth. Maybe he was over analyzing this situation. He shouldn’t be too surprised. Vergil would admit that he did look brutish thanks to his tattoos. Hell this woman liked the idea of him being a strong individual, why couldn’t he? Vergil shook off the nervousness and striated his posture. He wouldn’t reject her kind offer. “Sure, I’d be happy to help.”
Vergil tried his best to put on the charm, though this woman seemed a bit too preoccupied. She spun around and checked the time before turning back to the lone shifter. A large smile appeared onto her lovely face. She then made the comment on if he didn’t like loud noises he should cover his ears. Not wanting to look like a fool, the male nodded and sat there. He didn’t cover his ears as Elektra began to ring the loud bell before telling the other customers that it was time to go. The male jumped at first, but slowly began to relax again. Vergil took another light sip of his drink before putting it back down. Then with a smile he looked up at Elektra. The female peered back at him with those lovely eyes of hers before she made the comment on his tattoos. Vergil mustered up a large smile. “You really think so? T-thanks!” He replied as he watched some of the humans leave. “So what do you need me to do exactly?”
((sorry if this post is strange :/ It just doesn't feel right to me.))

She wasn't particularly phased by the ringing of the bell. It was something she had grown used to since she figured out what money was and bought this place. She figured the more money you had the cooler you were and she, despite her generally down to Earth characteristics, wanted to fit in and wanted to be like normal humans that had jobs and lives and all that other stuff. She'd heard of other creatures roaming about that didn't care. Creatures that saw humans as food and/or playthings. Sure, their natures might make them see that way, but Elektra thought they could at least try and control their urges. She felt like reducing the entire city to rubble sometimes but she controlled herself, plus the fact using that much power would more than likely kill her.
She smiled at Vergil as the last few stragglers made their way out of the bar and she slid a cloth to him.
"You can wipe down the tables and put the chairs up on them... Then you can help me bring some stuff up from the cellar so I can fill the fridges up for tomorrow. If you do good, I'll give you a job. I need some help with this place... I mean, it's my home and stuff, but I would like a little free time every now and then," Elektra mused as she flicked signs over and locked the door. "I mean, you don't have to accept the job. I just think you might like it here and well, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but you need to work on your social skills a little bit. So where better to do it than a pub?"
She raised her arms up, gesturing around the place at her last sentence and beamed at him before she slid back behind the bar and proceeded to wipe it down.
